In the U.S. alone, @tiktok generated $500 Million in revenue. As we all know, the various worldwide lockdown restrictions sent people to their phones more often than ever before, in a constant search for human interaction. This was particularly true for the younger generation, AKA "Gen Zs".
The terms "Gen Z" or "Generation Z" refer to users born after 1996, which made up over 60% of Tik Tok's overall userbase in 2020.
Many businesses saw this situation as an opportunity and, seeing the platform's growing digital footfall, it makes sense for them to invest in ad placements, and even create accounts to start sharing videos!
